Snow crisis response praised by Sussex transport chiefs
Despite the horrific images of cars abandoned in the snow and motorists spending countless hours trapped on the snowy roads, it seems that Sussex transport bosses are quite happy with the level of response from the city council workers.
Under severe criticism from the general public and MPs for the difficult travelling conditions across the county (and especially along the A23), council transport chiefs blamed a “perfect storm of constant snowfall for 24 hours, previous wet weather which had stopped earlier treatment of roads, the difficulty of gritting vehicles getting past abandoned and immobile cars and 50 mph winds” for limiting the effectiveness.
Even so, they calculated that their teams had travelled more than 1,000 miles since March 10 and dispensed about 360 tonnes of gritting material, praising the workers’ efforts under such harsh conditions.
As a market leader in the access control and time and attendance markets, Time & Attendance South East’s solutions enable local authorities to properly organize snow clearing activities by creating specific shift patterns and assigning them to all the crews involved. In this way, all crew members will spend an optimum amount on time on the road and also provide a maximum level of efficiency while doing so.
Furthermore, our parent company, Tensor PLC, is an expert in access control and surveillance systems’ installation, both of which could prove to be particularly useful for providing secure access to all the snow clearing equipment.
