East College Kent to implement £9.7m development scheme

East Kent College has managed to secure £9.7m of government funding in order to help it develop its Broadstairs campus, a brand new report in the local media has revealed.

The funds provided by the Skills Funding Agency will be used in order to renovate its grade II-listed Yarrow Building and provide new training facilities centred on tourism, creative industries and business sectors. In fact, an innovation space for start-ups, a business administration academy, a hotel and a hospitality training centre will also be built within the Yarrow Building.

Graham Razey, principal of East Kent College, said: "This is a significant investment and we are delighted that, depending on planning approval, we are going to be able to turn a historic building into a real-work environment for our students.

"The new facilities will also provide a large number of apprenticeship places across a much wider range of careers than is currently available."
