A Portsmouth entrepreneur will create 12 new jobs in the town after securing the required funds for setting up a waffle and ice cream shop in a busy commercial area.

 

The new shop, called Wicked Waffle and located in Portsmouth’s London Road, is Mr. Wayne Harrison’s second foray into the world of catering, as he previously owned a burger van. The Portsmouth entrepreneur spent 25 years in the Navy before deciding that a change of careers was due.

 

Commenting on his decision to expand the business, Mr. Harrison said: “I have created 12 full and part-time jobs. I want to employ local people and young people as well. I know people always ask for qualifications but I think it’s important to have the right staff and then I can train them to make waffles and sundaes."

 

"Everyone wants to eat and have a little treat and there are plenty of coffee and sandwich shops. I came across something similar to this in London and I thought it would work in Pompey," he added.
