Ambrosden housing development receives planning permission

Cherwell District Council has approved plans for a new 45 house development in Ambrosden following a very serious review, a news report in the local media can reveal.

The initial application for the area’s redevelopment, which includes the demolition of an existing building (Ambrosden Court) and the creation of 45 residential units, was rejected in July 2013 after councillors voiced concerns over highway safety and the effect of the proposed development on the character and appearance of the area.

However, subsequent inspections and the installation of a traffic calming solution in the area have managed to convince a planning inspector who concluded that the benefits brought from the development would outweigh the urbanisation of the countryside.

The site had previously received planning consent in 2010 for the demolition of existing outbuildings, alteration of existing access and construction of five new houses.

A large-size development such as the one described above could typically involve a large number of contractors, and any company embarking on such an endeavour should consider implementing a very solid and reliable time and attendance system.
