New 635-house development to be built in Kings Hill
Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council has recently approved a developer’s plans to build more than 600 houses in Kings Hill, near West Malling, a recent news report in the local media was able to reveal.
Liberty Property Trust UK’s outline application involves the demolition of existing buildings, including the Kent County Council supplies depot and the removal of a section of Kings Hill Avenue, and the construction of up to 635 residential units.
The scheme also includes a two form entry primary school and land safeguarded for an extension to create a three form entry primary school.
It also includes other facilities including a community centre, an extension on the doctors’ surgery, a skate park and land made available for allotments and roads.
Of the 635 new homes, 112 will be affordable.
Liberty Property Trust managing director Andrew Blevins said: "Kings Hill has already delivered 800,000 sq ft of offices and 5,000 jobs, along with almost 2,750 new homes, shops, schools and amenities for roughly 8,800 residents who chose to make it their home.
"A new extension to the community centre, additional allotments, trim trails and sports pitches for Kings Hill Sports Park is just some of the new community infrastructure that will be delivered, alongside a new primary school, affordable housing and land that will be gifted for the development of a place of worship on Kings Hill."
As expected, such a significant undertaking is likely to involve a large number of contractors and subcontractors, all of whom must be thoroughly security vetted each time they enter the site.
