48 new jobs to be created in Sussex as part of business growth scheme
Seven Sussex-based companies have revealed plans to create 48 new jobs in the area after being awarded £224,000 in the first round of grants from the new Coast to Capital Business Growth Grant scheme.
Non-repayable grants of between £5,000 and £100,000 are available as part of the scheme, which is funded by the government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF). The £4.79m program is run by Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Brighton and Hove City Council and their partners, a news report in the local business media can reveal.
Applicants need to provide very sound business plans that clearly prove their job-creation potential, while also having to support 75 to 80% of the projects’ total costs, depending on the amount they want to obtain.
Coast to Capital chief executive Ron Crank said: "We are delighted to award the first of what I hope will be many business growth grants to companies in our region.
"Each of these businesses has demonstrated innovative new plans for growth involving research and development, capital projects and expansion into further markets. SMEs are the backbone of our economy and I am encouraging more companies to take advantage of these grants so they may achieve their full potential."
