72% of South East companies relying on own resources for funding

Recent figures released by Bibby Financial Services have revealed that around 72% of the SMEs in the South East region have not sought out external funding support.

As a news report in the local media informs us, most of the companies participating in the survey would rather rely on existing sources of income, rather than seeking out external ones.

Furthermore, the same study revealed that 37 per cent of companies have reported an increase in new customers and 26 per cent have experienced a rise in orders during the second quarter of 2013.

Chris Hardy, of Bibby Financial Services, said: "Either business owners are hesitant to try new forms of funding or relying on unsustainable sources of finance such as bank loans, credit cards and personal savings, which provide a short-term fix but doesn’t help to improve cash flow over the long term.

"We would urge business owners to research all the funding options open to them as a more flexible and specialist form of finance may be able to support their future plans."
