A research and development site in Sandwich is set to retain hundreds more jobs than expected. Around 650 jobs will remain at the facility, which once employed 2,400 people, owned by Pfizer. In fact about 800 workers have already left their posts at the Sandwich Discovery Park. Pfizer originally announced at the beginning of the year that its operation would close. The firm said it would continue its phased exit of the rest of the site, on Ramsgate Road, by 2012.
